Over the past several months, Big Easy Magazine has proudly become the online home for progressive New Orleans. We’ve covered the issues that matter most to New Orleans:
- Short term rentals and the sharing economy
- Environmental issues such as water quality and coastal erosion
- Our beloved Saints and Pelicans
Through our weekly content and monthly editions, we have gone out into the community and spoken to New Orleanians from all walks of life. We also solicit guest content and op-eds in an effort to give our readers a platform to have your voice heard. And we are proud to have interviewed three candidates looking to represent New Orleans in the U.S. Congress. We are unapologetically progressive and uniquely New Orleans.
What has been missing, however, is the offline forum—a place for us to meet our readers and connect you to local issues in real life. With that in mind, we’re excited to host our October 22 event: Making Progress: NOLA’s Progressive Congressional Candidate Forum.
With the ever-important midterm election upon us, we want to provide the people of New Orleans an opportunity to meet the progressive candidates for New Orleans’ two congressional seats. The event will allow the candidates to discuss the issues that are vital to our city and our country, and that are ingrained in Big Easy’s core values. The forum is free and open to the public, and all are welcome.
This event is for you, New Orleans. These are your candidates. This is your city, your country, and your future. Join us on October 22. Ask questions, listen to the candidates, and get informed. And on November 6, let’s come together and have our voices heard.
The Big Easy Magazine editorial board is a diverse group of people who are passionate about encouraging the spread of progressive values such as kindness, compassion, equality, love, justice, and inclusiveness. You can learn more about individual board members here.
