According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto, 13 students were arrested at John Ehret High School after multiple fights broke out on campus.
The school was placed on lockdown around 10 a.m. when fights broke out across campus.
Today was the last day of school for students and a “moving up” ceremony had been scheduled. Several parents were on campus when the fighting started.
According to Lopinto, one student was arrested who was not involved in the fights when it was found that he had brought a gun on campus.
The scheduled ceremony is expected to continue as planned, and the school will proceed with its planned dismissal at 12:15 p.m. today.
