LaundryCares Foundation Hosts Free Laundry Day

On Wednesday, June 19, the LaundryCares Foundation will host a Free Laundry Day event in New Orleans.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wash World on Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans. Participants will receive free laundry services and detergent. In addition, free food will be provided by Melba’s Famous Poboys, along with fun activities for children and adults to enjoy.

The event is being held to celebrate the new Family Read, Play, & Lear literacy spaces being installed in two laundry businesses. These areas will provide books as well as a comfortable and engaging area for children to read while their families’ clothes are laundered.

“Millions of families in underserved communities visit laundromats each week to fulfill the basic need of having clean clothes,” the event’s press release reads. “With that in mind, the owner of Wash World, in conjunction with the LaundryCares Foundation are excited an honored to offer a day of free laundry services for people in the neighborhood.”

It’s noted that guests can bring an unlimited amount of laundry to the event.

Big Easy Magazine editorial board member Deatra Hollins, aka The Nola Chic is a partner of the event and will be there as well.
