Where’s Ya Mask? Locals Show Off Masks Amid CDC Recommendation

Although many have already been taking precautions and wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC officially recommended Friday, April 3, that people wear  “cloth face coverings” while in public. The CDC states on their website that they recommend creating cloth masks at home as opposed to attaining medical masks, like N95 respirators. In doing so, the general public will be able to remain safe without using desperately needed supplies meant for hospitals and healthcare facilities. The website also mentions that the use of a mask is mostly to protect others from potential asymptomatic carriers who may not know they are infected. In an effort to promote awareness, Big Easy Magazine reached out to its Facebook followers Saturday to call for pictures of followers in their masks. Our Facebook community did not disappoint!

Visit the CDC’s site for more information regarding the official recommendation, and even check out the how-to’s available for multiple types of homemade masks. Wanna help us spread the word? Post a picture of yourself sporting your mask on our Facebook page here!
