April 28, 2020 — NEW ORLEANS, LA — A host of national celebrities, musicians and local leaders will participate in the second installment of the 504LIFE series, a livestream telethon to celebrate New Orleans’ resilience and raise funds to purchase PPE for the city’s doctors, nurses, and first responders. The first 504LIFE event was conceived on April 5, 2020 and took place on April 11, 2020. It drew 16,000 concurrent visitors in the primetime hours, and most importantly refilled the PPE supply for the city in its time of acute need, which was the impetus to do an event of this scale on such a short timeline.

This new edition will go live on 504LIFE’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitch pages, as well as numerous other partners’ pages, at 5:04pm CDT on Monday, May 4 and run for 5 hours, 4 minutes. The programming ranges from live music to commentary by talking heads, as well as celebrity PSAs and very special “only in New Orleans” moments. The confirmed guest list includes Mayor Latoya Cantrell, Peyton, Eli, Cooper and Archie Manning, Nicole Kidman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mannie Fresh, Matthew McConaughey, Juvenile, Lt. General Russel Honore, Jon Batiste, Baron Davis, George Porter Jr., Ani DiFranco, Wendell Pierce, Brandan “BMIKE” Odums, Eddie Redmayne, Octavia Spencer, Big Freedia, Ivan Neville, Rebirth Brass Band, Katey Red, Tank & The Bangas, Louis Michot of The Lost Bayou Ramblers, Harry Shearer & David Silverman of The Simpsons, Judith Owen and Trumpet Mafia. 504LIFE will be hosted by Louisiana legend Amanda Shaw, Big Chief Fiyo of the Hard Head Hunters Mardi Gras Indian Tribe (who portrayed Mardi Gras Indian George Cotrell on HBO’s “Treme”) and former WGNO sports reporter Megan Kluth.

The Foundation for Louisiana serves as 504LIFE’s non-profit fiscal sponsor. The 23-member community healthcare network 504HealthNet and the City of New Orleans are the beneficiaries. 504LIFE producers include the founders of Sofa-King-Fest.com, the co-founder and founding team members of Twitch.tv, and the executive director of Preservation Hall Foundation. SofaKing-Fest.com has emerged as the programming guide for livestreams and was created during an emergency CODEMKRS hackathon at the outset of the COVID-19 epidemic. Twitch.tv is the largest livestreaming platform in the world and includes a New Orleans native among its cofounders. Preservation Hall Foundation protects, preserves, and perpetuates the musical traditions and heritage of New Orleans. CODEMKRS is the entertainment tech innovation consultancy known for creating the hackathons for SXSW, The Superbowl, Capitol Records, and Universal Music Group.
