February 10, 2021 NEW ORLEANS, LA
A Louisiana statewide survey of 633 randomly selected registered voters was conducted on January 19, 2021 (Inauguration Eve) on the topics of religion, belief in extraterrestrial visits to Earth, and who voters believe is the rightful winner of the 2020 U. S. presidential election.
The survey finds that 95% of Louisiana voters believe in God, 33% believe that aliens visit Earth, and that those who believe that extraterrestrials visit Earth are also more likely to believe that Donald Trump was the rightful winner of the 2020 U. S. presidential election.
The analysis concludes that individual mental health issues may be causal in conspiratorial thinking and widespread election fraud beliefs.
The survey and analysis were conducted by political scientists Dr. Tony Licciardi and Dr. Joshua Lambert. Dr. Licciardi is an expert of U. S. voter behavior and is a researcher at the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center. Dr. Lambert is a postdoctoral fellow and researcher at the University of Central Florida.
