New Orleans Mayor’s Office Expands Rental Assistance Program

With COVID-19 still causing economic woes, many New Orleanians have been out of work and are having great difficulty paying their bills. The largest bill for many people is rent. For those who have been worrying about how they’re going to pay their rent, the Mayor’s Office may have good news. Writing on Twitter they say, “The Mayor’s Office has announced an expansion of its rental assistance program with the recent allocation of funding from the State and Federal government.”

For those interested, you can apply here or in person. The application to receive assistance is a single-page form that’s relatively easy to fill out.

Originally, New Orleans received 11.6 million dollars in rental assistance from the U.S. Treasury. The city currently expects to receive another 14 million dollars from the state.
