Posting to social media is a great way to build your brand and reach new customers, but with so many different platforms, it can be hard to know how best to use them all. Twitter is by far one of the best social media platforms around when it comes to both social media marketing and just popularity in general. Having been launched all the way back in 2006 and still being incredibly popular today, twitter has amassed over 300 million active daily users making it one of the top social media platforms around. 

If you are new to twitter or just social media in general, it can be a bit confusing to navigate and get the ball rolling but twitter is a great way to get more customers for brands and even interact with them, so it is a great idea to try and familiarise yourself with it. Create a twitter account

Obviously the first step to getting started on twitter is to create an account. This may sound basic, and in most cases it is, but when trying to become successful on social media as a business you need to carefully plan out every detail of your account and the content it you post. 

First off you need to have a great profile starting with your username. This needs to be catchy but also wither the same or similar to that of your brands name. Then you have a profile picture. This is what everyone will see when you post and how users will recognise your account. Your profile picture should stick with the tone and theme of your account. Lastly you have the bio. Here you want to mention a few things about your brand, but more importantly you want to include the location of your business as well as a direct link to your website. 

Follow relevant people

It’s all very well to have started an account and be posting all the time, but your account will go nowhere if you don’t have any followers to start out. The best way to gain your initial followers is to follow a whole bunch of people who might be interested in your products. These people can be people who have a generally larger audience but also people who just seem to fall part of your target audience. This is a great way to get people to notice you and want to follow you back. 

Know your audience

Posting to twitter may seem simple and easy enough because you can just post whatever you feel like posting. This may seem like the case but there is so much more that goes into it. Before you starting posting to Instagram you need to know exactly who your audience is and what kind of niche you fall into. Once you have discovered this you can do a bit of research to find out what kind of content these users like the most and will most likely interact or engage with. Making sure that you are posting the right content for your audience is a great way to ensure that you see good growth and engagement within your account. 

Use hashtags

Hashtags are a tool that seem to be often misused and quite underrated. They are a fantastic way to reach a much larger audience that is specifically interested in your niche. This is because you can use specific keywords or phrases that would be of interest to those who fall part of your niche in order to gain more followers. These hashtags are also good for keeping up with your analytics and seeing how well your account and content is doing 

Try out influencers

On a platform with so many users, it is no surprise that some of them have managed to gain millions upon millions of follower and become influencers. There are now so many influencers on twitter and businesses should definitely take advantage of what they have to offer. Getting the help of an influencer in the way of a review on your product or a sponsored post is a great way to be exposed to an incredibly large audience that you otherwise might not have reach, and in turn, gain more followers.
