In an interview Sunday morning on NBCs Meet the Press, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy said infrastructure like roads and bridges is a womans problem” because they do the shopping.
Cassidy appeared on the program to show his bipartisan support for President Joe Bidens infrastructure legislation now pending in the U.S. Senate. Theres lots to like here. Its a good bill, said Cassidy.
If you go home and talk to constituents who are stuck in traffic for an hour and a half getting to work and an hour and a half getting home – three hours a day they dont spend with their families – they want a bridge coming to a town near them, Cassidy continued.
My wife says that roads and bridges are a womans problem if you will, explained Cassidy. Because oftentimes it is the woman – aside from commuting to work- whos also taking children to schools or doing the shopping. And the more time that she spends on the road, the less time she spends doing things of higher value.
Cassidy said that communities which are flooded or endangered, like Florida and the Louisiana coast, appreciate the resiliency piece. If you put your finger in the air, youll feel a breeze in favor of the bill, Cassidy added in support of this legislation.
