According to Facebook and Instagram posts from NOLA Ready as of 20 minutes ago at approximately 12:50 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department is responding to a fire at the New Orleans Caesars Superdome. The post urges residents to avoid the area near the dome. There are no additional details including what caused the fire at this time. This is a new development and the story will be updated as we receive additional details.
Update: As of 1:10 pm, the fire was put out, and employees working there were allowed back inside. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

NOLA Ready has since provided an update showing a close-up of the damage of where the fire was showing images of what is known as the “gutter tub.”

Doug Thornton, the VP of stadiums for ASM Global which manages the Superdome, tells me via text that the fire at the stadium started “in the gutter tub” on the roof while workers were there pressure washing it and “is under control.” NOFD is on the scene.

As far as the well-being of employees is concerned, only one person has been taken to University Medical Center for minor burns.
