This New Orleans Company Sells Legal THC Gummies

Last week, Crescent Canna, one of the most prominent CBD companies in Louisiana, became the first New Orleans company to register legal THC products with the Louisiana Department of Health.

These products contain Delta-8 THC, a naturally occurring cannabinoid with psychoactive effects that are similar to but milder than those of Delta-9 THC, its better-known cousin.

Unlike Delta-9, which is typically derived from marijuana, Delta-8 is legal — federally and in the state of Louisiana following the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill  — because it’s derived from hemp.

Like Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 is often used to relieve stress, promote healthy sleep, and improve digestion. These benefits make its legalization revolutionary for people in states where THC had previously been outlawed.

Passage of HB640 (Act 336) in June 2021 established a regulatory framework and process for registering Delta-8 THC through the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). As a result, Louisiana is now the only state in the south to have established a legal framework governing Delta-8 THC, positioning it as a leader in cannabis in the region.

“We are so proud to finally bring hemp-derived THC products to our friends and customers throughout Louisiana,” says Crescent Canna Chief Marketing Officer David Reich.

“Other states try to ban these products without understanding them. Not Louisiana. We are grateful to the Louisiana leaders who made this possible, especially Louisiana Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder and Rep. C. Travis Johnson, who worked with health officials, advocates of cannabis, small businesses, and consumers to create smart regulations for hemp-derived THC products and set Louisiana on a path to lead the region in cannabis.”

Delta-8 products in Louisiana must contain less than 1% Total THC and less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, and they must meet various safety, testing, and labeling requirements, including being registered with the LDH, as Crescent Canna’s Delta-8 gummies now are.

Crescent Canna’s LDH-registered Delta-8 products include 25 mg Delta-8 THC Sour Space Cadets and 30 mg Delta-8 THC Rocket Bites. These Delta-8 edibles are made with pure hemp-derived Delta-8 distillate, and are full-panel lab-tested for quality, potency, and purity.

“As with all our cannabis products, our Delta-8 products use extracts of the highest quality. We are completely transparent about ingredients, and we provide accurate dosing information and full-panel testing so that you know exactly what you’re getting,” says Joe Gerrity, CEO of Crescent Canna. “We set the standard for quality, testing, and transparency in the CBD industry. Our customers can rely on us to adhere to the same high standards for every cannabinoid and every product that has our name on it.”

Founded by four Tulane alumni, Crescent Canna is based in New Orleans. If you’re over the age of 21, you can buy Crescent Canna Delta-8 products from numerous locations in New Orleans, including Simply CBD and the Mushroom or online from

“We’re optimistic about Louisiana’s future as the cannabis capital of the south,” Reich says. “As the industry continues to evolve, we’ll keep pushing for safe access and smart regulations around all hemp-derived cannabinoids. We can’t wait to see what’s next for cannabis businesses and consumers in the state.”
