Florida Legislature Passes so-called “Stop WOKE Act”

In its second controversial move this week, Florida’s legislator passed in a 24-15 vote what supporters have called the “Stop WOKE Act” (House Bill 7), a bill that will potentially limit how workplaces and classrooms handle discussions around systemic racism, gender, and racial discrimination.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has been vocally in support of the bill since its introduction, said in December that his state needs to take a stance against “the state-sanctioned racism that is critical race theory.” He said that he will not stand for Florida tax dollars to be used to teach kids in school to hate the country or each other.

Cruz, Johnson Meet With Anti-Mandate Truckers

The People’s Convoy group of truckers protested Covid-19 vaccination mandates as they met with Republican Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ron Johnson (R-WI), both of whom praised the protestors as patriots fighting for freedom, March 8.

The truckers insisted that they are not tied to a political left or right party. Cruz and Johnson, however, took partisan approaches and repeatedly called Democrats political tyrants throughout the press conference. Johnson accused other politicians, health authorities, big Pharma, big tech, and the media of conspiring to hide “the truth.”

North Carolina Rep Calls Zelensky a “Thug”

North Carolina Republican Representative Madison Cawthorn called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “thug” and the Ukrainian government “incredibly evil,” aligning with the dialogue formed US President Donald Trump provoked and in contradiction to the broad bipartisan US support for Ukraine.
