Alabama Legislature Sends Two Bills Limiting Transgender Youth Protections
Alabama’s legislature passed last week two bills that target transgender children. One makes it a felony for a doctor to administer gender-affirming health care, such as hormone therapy and puberty blockers, to minors. The other requires kindergarten through twelfth grade students to use bathrooms designated to their biological sex, and it included a last-hour amendment Thursday to ban classroom discussions around sexual orientation and gender identity in elementary schools.

Etsy Sellers Strike, Want Customers to Join
Thousands of Etsy shops have committed to going on “vacation mode” April 11 and suspend sales for a week in protest of changes on the website’s platform. Store owners are also asking customers to join them in refraining from buying on Etsy in hopes of boycotting news of an increase of transaction fees that would go up 30 percent starting the 11th.

Russia warns Finland, Sweden against Joining NATO
Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that an alliance “remains a tool geared towards confrontation,” suggesting that Finland and Sweden should not join NATO as that would not bring stability to Europe as a whole. However, United States defense officials said that Moscow’s invasion would likely bring NATO growth, expecting membership bids as early as June.
