The movie is set to release on April 1 in the UK and on April 8 in the US. Thats right; the wait is almost over, hedgehog fans!
The good news is that this date is also unlikely to change. Sonic the Hedgehog 2s development has been pretty much reliable considering that the film was shot during the Covid-19 global pandemic. Since it was first announced in 2020, the sequel hasnt suffered any major delays. So we can all relax knowing that Paramount will bring back Sonic on time.

We all thought the movie was doomed when they went back into reshoot and changed his look to be more authentic. Sonic is back, but he has added everyones favorite pal from the video game in Tails this time. But with him getting one over on Dr. Robotnik in the last movie, the good doc has his special
partner by his side in this one, Knuckles. So will Sonic and Tails be able to take down the dynamic duo? Only time will tell.
I am rather excited about the fact we have Idris Elba joining as Knuckles. It doesnt matter if he is on-screen or behind the voice of an animated character, Elba is the best of the best in the world of film. Also, I love seeing the return of Jim Carrey and am excited to see him explore Dr. Robotnik even more.

Sadly, you cant. We will see more and more films stick to theatrical release only as we move past the pandemic, especially with these bigger budget films needing the box office returns.
The film has already been released in some territories overseas and has garnered a great reception. So I wouldnt expect this movie to underperform at all with the lack of family films being released in theaters lately.
I would keep an eye out on this potentially coming to Paramount+ in a few months, though. The turnaround for Jackass Forever was about three months, I think we may see it a little further out, but it could be sooner depending on how the film does at the box office overall. Well keep you posted!
