Russian Journalist Sells Nobel Peace Prize to Raise Money for Ukrainian Children
Russian Journalist Dmitry Muratov is auctioning off his Nobel Peace Prize medal in an effort to raise money to help the children who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine “to give the children refugees a chance for a future.” The proceeds will go directly to UNICEF.
Muratov won the medal in October 2021. He shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Journalist Maria Ressa, who is from the Philippines, for both of their work in preserving free speech in their respective countries despite the harsh treatment and attacks from their governments.

15-Year-Old Killed, 3 Shot, At DC Music Festival
A 15-year-old boy was killed and three adults, including a police officer, were shot at an unauthorized music event in Washington, D.C. called Moechella Sunday night.
The chief of police said that there was a number of illegal firearms in the area, and shots were fired among the crowd. The chief said that he wanted to ensure that people would in the future hold events with a permit.

Matt Fitzpatrick Wins U.S. Open
27-year-old Matthew Fitzpatrick won his first professional title in America on the same course that he previously won an amateur crown in 2013, making the Sheffield golfer only the second player to win the US Amateur and US open on the same courses.
