Biden Forgives $10,000 in Student Loans
President Biden announced federal student loan relief for some borrowers on Wednesday. Those who hold loans and make less than $125,000 per year will receive 10,000 in student loan forgiveness, or up to 20,000 if they obtained Pell Grants. In addition, income-based repayment plans will be capped at 5% of a borrower’s monthly income.

Texas Ranchers Slaughter More Cows Due to Drought
Ranchers in Texas, the top beef-producing state in the nation, are culling their herds thanks to a drought that has killed off much of the grass necessary to sustain the animals. More than 93 percent of the state has been in a moderate to exceptional drought, according to the United States Drought Monitor.

Gen Z Candidate Wins Primary in Florida
Maxwell Frost, a progressive activist from Florida, has won the Democratic primary for the state’s Orlando-based seat, becoming one of the first members of Gen Z to run for Congress. Frost faces off against Republican Calvin Wimbish in November, and is considered a nearly sure won in the solidly Democratic district.
