Food Prices Still Soaring

According to today’s release of the Consumer Price Index, which tracks the prices of consumer goods across the country, food prices soared 11.4% over the past year. That is the largest price increase since 1979.

DOW Plummets More than 1,000 Points

The Dow Jones Industrial Index plummeted more than 1,000 points on Tuesday as investors brace for another interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also tumbled, falling 3.6% and 4.5% respectively.

Kremlin Calls for Putin’s Resignation

As of early this week, 47 municipal deputies from the Kremlin have called on Vladimir Putin to resign as leader of Russia following significant losses in Ukraine last week. The petition signed reads: “We, the municipal deputies of Russia, believe that the actions of its president Vladimir Putin are detrimental to Russia’s and its citizens’ future. We demand Vladimir Putin’s resignation from the post of the President of the Russian Federation.”
