Social security recipients will see an 8.7% jump in their payouts in 2023. However, though the average recipient will now receive around $140 more each month, that won’t help much against the pain of rising inflation.

A jury spared Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland High School shooter who killed 17 people in 2018, from the death penalty on Thursday, instead recommending he receive life in prison without the possibility of parole. The recommendation left many families of the victims outraged and disappointed.

Food Prices Still Surging

Food prices have continued to soar, putting pressure, with the food-at-home index showing another 0.7% increase in prices in September. Fruits and vegetables saw the biggest increase, with a 1.6% increase for the month.
