Club Patrons Subdued Colorado Shooting Suspect
Three patrons – veteran Rich Fierro, club patron Thomas James, and an unnamed trans woman (some outlets are reporting she was a performer) – are credited with subduing the gunman who killed five and injured 15 at an LGBT nightclub in Colorado Springs. Fierro is being hailed as a hero after he ran towards the shooter and subdued him.

Medication Shortages Worsen Respiratory Illness Outbreak
Shortages of antivirals and antibiotics commonly used to treat flu, ear infections, and sore throats in children are making a nationwide outbreak of severe respiratory viruses worse.
“Right now, we are having severe shortages of medications,” Said Renae Kraft, a relief pharmacist in Oklahoma City. “There’s no Tamiflu for children. There’s barely any Tamiflu for adults. And this is brand name and generic.”

US Rail Strike Still A Possibility
The threat of a nationwide rail strike isn’t over yet. Four railroad unions and the management of major US freight railroads headed back to the negotiating table Tuesday in an attempt to avert a strike. Three of the four unions could strike on December 9, while a fourth could strike as early as December 5. Any union that goes on strike would be honored by all 12 unions, bringing rail service to a halt in the midst of the holiday shopping season.
