Biden Signs Respect for Marriage Act

In a move that reflects both his personal evolution, and the evolution of the country on same-sex marriage, President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law on Tuesday. The law recognizes same-sex marriage federally and protects same-sex marriage across state lines, even in states that have trigger laws making same-sex marriage illegal in the event the Supreme Court overturns Obergefell.

US Lawmakers Introduce TikTok Ban

Sen. Marco Rubio has introduced a bill that, if passed, would prevent the popular Chinese social media app TikTok from operating in the US. The bill aims to “block and prohibit all transactions” by larger social media companies (more than one million users) based in, or under the “substantial influence” of, countries that are considered foreign adversaries, including China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela.
