Westbank Non-Profit Leader To Compete in International Jui Jitsu Contest Friday in Las Vegas

Westbanker David Magee Jr., a Master III Blue Belt contender in the International Brazilian Jui Jitsu Federation and U.S. champion in his division, will compete to become World Champion this Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center before a large audience.

Magee began practicing jui jitsu two years ago because his two children, Kylie and Kaleb, were already competing. Kylie, 9, is world champion in her division of the American Grappling Federation.

Magee, who founded and runs the non-profit H.Y.P.E. (harnessing youths’ potential and energy) says jui jitsu is a good way to stay in shape and is fun and interesting.  He studies at the Science of Jui Jitsu in Harvey and usually competes once a month. Magee is a board member of the Girl Scouts of Southeast Louisiana.

AGF held a competition at the Alario Center last weekend. Magee is the top man in the attached photo.
