A group of organizations interested in increasing voter turnout in eastern New Orleans have scheduled a “Get Out the Vote Second Line to the Polls”, Saturday October 26. Sponsored by the Power Coalition and Black Voters Matter in partnership with New Orleans East Matters, NOEL, NOUF and Women’s Caucus, the second line is an opportunity for businesses, churches, neighborhoods, and schools to come together for a non-partisan milestone.

A brass band and the Zulu Tramps will lead the second line. The event starts at 10 a.m. Brittany’s Restaurant, 10711 Chef Menteur. The second line will proceed down Chef Menteur and end at the Voting Machine Warehouse, 8870 Chef Menteur – an early voting location.

After voting, participants will be able to enjoy specially priced offerings that day from several New Orleans East businesses including Brittany’s Restaurant, Le Roux’s On The Lake, Thai Nola, Patio 17, The Blue Flamingo, Eedos’ Restaurant, We Dat Chicken, and PJ’s Coffee. The Verdict Lounge is offering a Friday evening special. Also participating in Universal Printing.
