A Never-Before-Seen King Cake Experience with Four Iconic New Orleans Chefs

King Cake Drive-Thru, the city’s premiere destination for drive-thru king cake, is launching an exclusive Chef Series featuring four iconic New Orleans chefs. 

Each Chef Series will take place at Duckworth Tires (1009 Metairie Rd) on specific weekends throughout the season from 7am – 7pm (or sold out). These limited-edition king cakes, available only at King Cake Drive-Thru, will showcase unique flavors and techniques that push king cakes beyond their classic form.

Each weekend, a different renowned chef will debut an exclusive, never-before-seen king cake creation, blending tradition with their signature culinary style. 

Meet the Chefs

Chef Edgar Caro
Chef Edgar Caro

Chef Edgar Caro (February 8-9), of Baru Bistro & Tapas, Brasa, Basin Seafood, and Zocalo Cocina Mexicana shares his passion for South America’s rich culinary traditions.

Chef Michael Gulotta

Chef Michael Gulotta (February 15-16), of Maypop, MOPHO, and Tana embraces his Sicilian roots.

“My king cake will have a brown butter ganache filling, candied hazelnuts, and chocolate ganache poured over the top. Baci di Alassio is a local specialty in Alassio, Italy, close to where I focused my culinary training.” – Michael Gulotta

Chef Prince Lobo (February 22-23) from Addis NOLA, brings his expertise in authentic Ethiopian cuisine.

Queen Trini Lisa (March 1-2), is the powerhouse behind Queen Trini Lisa Island Soul Food.

“After 18 years in New Orleans, I had never thought about making a king cake—until now. I’m looking at the flavors we grew up with back home and reimagining them in a king cake. New Orleans is a city of so many cultures and influences, and I’m excited to mix my Trinidadian roots into something sweet that celebrates both.” – Queen Trini Lisa

Event Highlights 

These exclusive king cakes are available in limited quantities and descriptions will be announced the week of. Once they sell out, they won’t be available again. 

Each chef debuts his or her king cake creation each respective weekend, making each visit a must.

These special edition king cakes are only available at King Cake Drive-Thru on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-orders and no reservations. 

Date/Time 

King Cake Drive-Thru will begin offering these special edition king cakes at 7am each designated weekend (1009 Metairie Road, Metairie, Louisiana, 70005). 

Hours of operation are Friday thru Sunday from 7am – 7pm (or until sold out) throughout the Mardi Gras season. 

Plans for pop up locations in other cities are upcoming with Lafayette, Meridian and Atlanta.
