NOCCA and Krewe of Muses Team Up for a Special Anniversary King Cake

The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) has announced an exciting partnership with the all-female Mardi Gras Krewe of Muses to create a unique king cake in celebration of the krewe’s 25th anniversary. Dubbed “The Goddess,” this special edition king cake features Greek-inspired flavors and a shimmering silver finish to honor the milestone.

NOCCA’s latest king cake is a bold departure from tradition, incorporating the rich flavors of goat cheese, fig, candied orange, and toasted walnuts. As a nod to the Muses’ silver anniversary, the cake is topped with edible silver glitter—an artistic twist befitting the Krewe known for its creativity and flair. In keeping with the theme, NOCCA has embraced the idea that “Goddesses outrank kings every day of the week!”

The Goddess will be available for a limited time only, from February 17 through February 27, ensuring it remains an exclusive treat for the Carnival season. Pre-orders are now open at www.NOCCAMarketplace.com, with options for pickup or shipping. The cake will also be available for purchase at the King Cake Hub.

This collaboration serves a greater purpose beyond its delicious appeal—proceeds from the sales of NOCCA’s King Cake Program directly benefit the school’s Culinary Arts department, supporting the next generation of Louisiana chefs. The program is overseen by the NOCCA Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to funding and advocating for NOCCA’s world-class training programs.

Adding to the partnership’s creative flair, NOCCA student Piper Schaumburg, a Level IV Visual Arts student, has been selected to design the Krewe of Muses’ 2025 signature cup. Each year, Muses holds a contest for high school students to design artwork featured on thousands of cups thrown from the parade’s floats. NOCCA students will also participate in the Muses parade, marching to represent the school on Thursday, February 27.

The partnership extends beyond king cake, as the NOCCA Foundation has also teamed up with French Truck Coffee as the nonprofit beneficiary of this year’s “Big Chief” Carnival blend. This limited-edition whole-bean coffee blend, featuring selections from El Salvador, Ethiopia, and Brazil, will support NOCCA through a portion of sales proceeds. Customers who purchase a bag of Big Chief coffee along with a NOCCA King Cake (for pickup only) will receive $1 off their order.

With creativity and community at the heart of this collaboration, The Goddess king cake is poised to be a must-try indulgence for Mardi Gras revelers while supporting the artistic and culinary talents of NOCCA students.
