On Good Friday, April 18, local nonprofit Toups Family Meal (TFM), led by renowned Chef Isaac Toups and his wife Amanda Toups, will once again bring the spirit of giving to life with their second annual Easter Drive. This Easter food drive, fittingly named “Doing Good on Good Friday,” is set to provide grocery boxes to 2,000 New Orleans families, empowering them to prepare their own festive Easter meals at home.
The drive reflects TFM’s core mission: fighting food insecurity in New Orleans while preserving the dignity of families in need. Each grocery box is thoughtfully curated with ingredients for a hearty Easter dinner, including a whole chicken, potatoes, butter, milk, collard greens, bread, and dessert. The goal is not only to put food on the table but to encourage meaningful family time in the kitchen.
“This isn’t just about food—it’s about giving families the chance to share something special together,” said Chef Isaac Toups, best known for his culinary leadership and appearances on Top Chef. “We want to make sure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can experience the joy of a home-cooked holiday meal.”
Volunteers will gather at the TFM distribution facility at 845 North Carrollton Avenue. From there, they will begin delivering the meal kits across the city between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
In order to meet growing demand, Toups Family Meal is currently seeking donations to expand their reach and continue this tradition of giving. Community members are also encouraged to volunteer as drivers to help distribute the boxes throughout the city.
To donate or sign up as a volunteer, visit Toups Family Meal’s website and follow them on social media @toupsfamilymeal for updates.
With the support of generous donors and dedicated volunteers, Doing Good on Good Friday promises to bring comfort, connection, and joy to thousands of homes across New Orleans this Easter.
