Taste the World: Thailand Brings Bangkok Flavor and Global Flair to the International House Hotel

On Thursday, June 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., New Orleans’ celebrated International House Hotel will host Taste the World: Thailand—an immersive culinary and cultural evening that fuses the fire and flair of Bangkok with the elegance of New Orleans cocktail culture. The event is part of an ongoing global series designed to celebrate the art of hospitality through food, drink, and international collaboration.

Presented in partnership with the hotel’s acclaimed Loa Bar, the evening will feature Marco Dongi, the award-winning bartender from Bangkok’s Bar Sathorn, in a rare New Orleans appearance. Joining him behind the bar is Loa’s own Abigail Gullo, a James Beard Semifinalist for 2025 and one of the city’s most celebrated mixologists.

Guests will enjoy Thai-inspired small plates crafted by Chef Aom Srisuk of Good Catch Thai Urban Bistro, a beloved local restaurant known for bringing modern Thai flavors to New Orleans’ dynamic dining landscape.

In a show of international goodwill and connection, the Honorary Consuls of both the Kingdom of Thailand and Italy will be in attendance, highlighting the global spirit of the event and offering a warm welcome to Dongi as he brings his signature flair from Bangkok to the Crescent City.

The curated cocktail menu is a globe-trotting experience in itself:

  • Bangkok Brunch blends Creole tomato “ice cubes” and Thai basil pork bacon in a drink that nods to both Southeast Asian street food and Southern roots.

  • Oh Liang Punch, a clarified milk punch with pandan, Thai jasmine tea, New Orleans coffee, and Caribbean rum, offers a multi-layered sip across time zones.

  • Boulevardier honors the Milanese cocktail canon while maintaining its American whiskey backbone.

  • Belucci, a citrus-forward mix of Aperol, Cognac, Limoncello, and lime, channels Sicilian sunshine in a glass.

From Milan to Bangkok to the Garden District, Taste the World: Thailand is a celebration of community, creativity, and cross-cultural connection—all with a cocktail in hand.
