Orleans Parish Chief Elections Officer Darren P Lombard announced this evening that the candidacy of five individuals who recently qualified for the October 2025 municipal elections has been challenged.

The candidates who are defendants in the lawsuits and the offices they are seeking include:
Tyrell Morris (Mayor), Gabrielle Harris Thomas (Mayor), Kevin Griffin Clark (Council District D), Willie Miller Jr. (Council District E) and Danyelle Christmas (Council District E).

The basis for each lawsuit is that the candidate failed to timely file his or her state taxes each of the last five years.

The lawsuits for all five will be heard by various judges in  civil district court tomorrow (Monday) at 10 am.  Clerk Lombard represents the State of Louisiana in these proceedings and will have attorneys present.
