Burnell Cotlon has received national recognition for his effort to improve the development of New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward neighborhood. He begged larger chain stores to come back to the area. His requests were rejected. Someone had to do something - Mr. Cotlon decided that he would be that person.
There’s a segment of the entertainment industry that a lot of people don’t want to talk about, and it is the part of the service industry that attracts a great deal of tourism and business conferences: the strip clubs. It’s the same for many cities, but for such a small city, New Orleans has a large number of them, and not just on Bourbon Street.
I arrive at Gasa Gasa on Freret Street around 9 pm. I knew, like every night out at this intriguing club, this one would be a night to remember.
White Linen Night is one of the most upscale, relevant art associated events in New Orleans. This includes delicious local cuisine and cocktails along the streets upon which people stroll, wandering from one gallery to the next in their very well selected outfits for such an evening, in which the clothing on the countless people enjoying what the yearly affair has become a sort of art within itself.
After fighting the pandemonium of downstream traffic, I found I urgently needed a restroom while haplessly seeking parking.
