Our first ever FOURTH of JULY FEST is everything you’d want for a hot dog-filled 4th of July. We’re celebrating a decade of Son of a Saint ‘Dogs and announcing the WINNER of this year’s SON OF A SAINT ‘DOG CONTEST. We’re also kicking off our first HOT DOG EATING CONTEST with a cash prize of $500!! Here’s what’s happening 7/4 at Dat Dog Freret, 4-6pm
4pm: We’re starting with the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Son of a Saint ‘Dog with LIVE MUSIC and FREE SAMPLES of the contest finalists’ hot dog creations. Towards the end of the hour the 2024-2025 WINNER of the SON OF SAINT ‘DOG CONTEST will be announced, with much fanfare! The winning ‘dog will join our menu for the next year and partial proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Son of a Saint organization and their mentorship programs for fatherless boys in New Orleans.
5pm: Our FIRST EVER HOT DOG EATING CONTEST begins with the introduction of the six competitors and a run down of the rules. Whoever can eat the most hot dogs in 10 minutes, then keep it all down for the next 10, will take home the $500 CASH PRIZE. Move over Joey Chestnut!
6pm Until: Drinking and eating to your heart’s content. We all know no one is going to work the Friday after the 4th, right??
