EVENT: Experience Palestine: A Fundraising Bazaar, Motorcade, and Rally with Congresswoman Cori Bush

(HARVEY, LA) — On Saturday, June 29, the Palestinian community of Greater New Orleans is uniting to host a day of culture, fundraising, and protest in solidarity with people in Palestine. With a thriving community of 20,000 Palestinians in the Greater New Orleans area, this event invites people of all backgrounds to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture and support the ongoing struggle for justice amidst the Israeli occupation.

The public event kicks off at 11:00 am at Al Quds Community Hall in Harvey with the free-to-enter bazaar. This marketplace will feature traditional Palestinian activities such as a dabke dance competition, cooking contest, taboon bread-making, embroidered fashion, and henna tattoo art.

Guests will enjoy a variety of attractions, including a grab-and-go baked goods market, an art auction, bouncy castles for children, and a diverse selection of food trucks. Notable vendors include MoFries, a Palestinian-owned food truck, Greg Tillery’s WeDat’s, and a refreshing ice

cream truck. Over 20 vendors will be present, generously donating portions of proceeds to support Palestinian causes.

At 4:00 pm, attendees will be invited to gather for a Motorcade procession for Palestine, proceeding from Al Quds Hall to Lafayette Square in Downtown New Orleans for a rally and march. The rally will feature speeches from prominent figures, including Congresswoman Cori Bush of Missouri, the author, original sponsor, and persistent champion of the Congressional Ceasefire Now resolution.

This full day of action underscores the unity and resilience of the local pro-Palestinian community. Many participants are donating their time, services, and equipment to ensure maximum funds are raised for Palestinian aid. This event follows eight months of intense Israeli bombardment in Palestine, which has claimed the lives of at least 50,000 Palestinians, including 17-year-old Tawfic Abdel Jabbar of New Orleans.
