About Southern Decadence
Every Labor Day Weekend, the New Orleans gay and lesbian community hosts Southern Decadence, the largest LGBTQ+ event in New Orleans culminating in a parade!
Things to Know
The Southern Decadence parade is on Sunday and typically starts at The Golden Lantern at 2 p.m.
Southern Decadence is primarily held in the French Quarter, however, LGBTQ+ bars, restaurants, and other venues across the city will be participating in Decadence weekend.
Because there’s such a wide range of events, you’re bound to encounter a mix of free and ticketed activities. The Bourbon Street Extravaganza and the parade are always free, while purchasing tickets can get you access to exclusive parties. Be sure to consult the official South Decadence website for a full list of happenings and details on scheduling and costs.
Major events typically include the Beer Bust at the Phoenix (Friday and Saturday evening), the Bourbon Street Extravaganza at the corner of Bourbon and St. Ann Streets (Saturday afternoon), and in classic New Orleans fashion, a Southern Decadence Parade (Sunday) that winds past some of the city’s notable queer hotspots.
